|
Nissaki, a
small village on the north east coast of Corfu lies beneath
Mount Pantokrator (the island's highest peak) on the road
leading to Kassiopi. Despite its undeniable beauty, it
remains uncommercialised and is popular with everyone
seeking a quiet, relaxing holiday. Many people return year
after year. |
| The name Nissaki means 'little island' and although that
island is now joined to the mainland, the Taverna Mitsos
stands upon it overlooking the small pebbled beach. The sea is clear, clean and ideal for
swimming, but the beach shelves quite steeply in places and can get busy during high
season when the visiting caiques arrive. There is a smaller beach (Skinos
Beach) several hundred metres along the coast from Nissaki's main beach. Nissaki should not be associated with the
Nissaki Beach Hotel (Krouzeri Beach) situated substantially further north along the
coast. |
|

The village of Nissaki is
strung out along the coast road with several bus stops for
the Corfu/Kassiopi bus. The village has numerous tavernas,
supermarkets, several tourist shops and car/bike hire. All
your daily requirements are readily available and there
really is no need to leave the village if for any reason you
want to stay put. |

Access to the smaller beaches is by foot, look for the numerous footpath signs in Greek and English.
Vehicular access to Nissaki's main beach is via the beach road at the southern end of the
village.
|

There is limited
parking by Nissaki beach and you may find that during high season, if you arrive around
lunchtime and especially
at weekends, you may have a problem to park your car. Aliki's Apartments are within
walking distance. |

Water taxis arrive and depart from the
jetty next to Mitsos taverna and the harbour throughout the day. Try sitting with a drink, watching
the coming and going. Is there anything more relaxing? |

The only toilets available are
within the tavernas-not a problem if you are eating or drinking at the premises.
Public telephones are available in various locations throughout the village.
|

Nissaki's harbour was completed
in 2004. Nissaki can now offer a safe and spacious mooring for your boat. The
concerns about the harbour spoiling the beauty of the area have proved unfounded. The
harbour wall is faced with local rock and will enhance the marine life
environment.
