Boat Hire.
|
Nissaki
Boat Rental.

They are
located in Nissaki's harbour. The proprietor Xenofontos known as Young Fontos (see sun
bed hire) offers motor boat hire for the day or week. You will be able to explore the small coves and beaches
along the coast and stop off at one of the many beach tavernas. This is by far the
best way to see the beautiful coastal scenery. He has a variety of
boats to suit your requirements with outboard engines
ranging from 15 to 30 HP, license not required. If you are an inexperienced boat handler Fontos will give you
a 30 min. course with a guaranteed pass. His English and instructional
skills are second to none. Visit their site at
www.nissakiboatrental.com and book your boat before you
arrive.

Boat Trips.
|
Captain
Iakis and Vivi.

Nissaki's new harbour was
completed in April 2004. As well as offering a safe mooring for
visiting boats, a local captain offers boat trips to various locations from the
harbour. Captain Iakis (Yakis) and his
boat Vivi will give you the opportunity to explore this beautiful island.
Iakis offers organised excursions along the north east coast and to Corfu
town. He also offers a twice weekly BBQ trip where you can dine 'Al
Fresco' on a secluded beach which can only be reached by boat. You will
dine on fresh fish or chicken, tzatsiki, grilled feta with herbs, salad and bread
and fruit. Wine or soft drinks are also provided. For those
wanting absolute privacy, why not hire the whole boat? This can be arranged with
or without a BBQ.

Beach Shops.
|
The
Loom.
An Aladdin's cave of
a gift shop owned by Mercedes and her daughter-in-law Dina. They have a cornucopia of
pottery, rugs, olive wood, beach clothes, hand-knitted sweaters and jewellry - that
is only scratching the surface. A visit is a must. They will ship items too bulky
or heavy for your suitcase.
|
Beach Tavernas.
There are three tavernas in the Nissaki
Beach area. |
Mitsos
Taverna.
The Mitsos Taverna
stands on the promontory of the original island and has stunning views of the
Albanian/Greek coastline and over to Corfu Town. The taverna has been in the
capable hands of the Trifonas family since it was developed by the late Mitsos (Dimitris)
some 50
years ago. The business is now run by his three grandsons - Andreas, Dimitris and Josephi.
|
|
His
son and daughter Lakis and Agathi remain on hand and help with the smooth running
of the establishment, as does Lakis wife Katina. The taverna continues to offer their oft-returning clientele
traditional Greek and Corfiot fare. If you reserve a table I recommend that you go for "Umbrella 3."
|
Olive
Press Taverna.
Also another
family-run taverna. Phillipos provides a wide choice of Greek and
international dishes. The taverna itself stands above and overlooking the harbour
and has lovely views out to sea. |
Parea
Taverna.
A new taverna in 2005. Freshly
and attractively refurbished with lovely views to sea. We look forward to food recommendations.
|
Water Sports.
|
Nissaki
Water Sports.
In the
beach area there is a water sports platform. The proprietor Spiros offers water ski-ing
and tuition, Parasailing, Ringo and Banana rides. |
Sun
Beds.
Sun beds and
umbrellas are available for hire on the beach. Ask for Fontos, (grandfather of
the boat hire Fontos) a remarkably sprightly man for his age who is usually to be found in
or around the Mitsos Taverna with a glass of Ouzo-is that his secret?
