What's new in Nissaki and Corfu - travel and local interest.


13. New eating place in Nissaki.

Situated next to Aliki's Apartments is Roumeli Grill Bar.  A traditional Greek style grill bar serving grilled meats, salads etc. all cooked to perfection by Vangelis' wife.  Vangelis intends to serve breakfasts during the tourist season.

12. Corfu Flights.

Re item 10:

EasyJet have retained the 'season' flights from Gatwick for 2009 and additionally have introduced flights from Manchester and Bristol.

11. Corfu Flights.

Re item 8:

Air Sea Lines, http:// www.airsealines.com Will start their scheduled flights from Corfu to Brindisi (Italy) 0n 30/3/08.

10. Corfu Flights.

Re item 9:

EasyJet have taken over GB Airways.   Flights are now bookable from Gatwick Airport to Corfu via their web site at  http://www.easyjet.com    There is the possibility that this service will be extended to the 'out of season months'

9. Corfu Flights.

GB Airways a sub. company of BA. have announced that from May 2007 they will start a scheduled service from Gatwick to Corfu.  This will be the only scheduled service from the UK to the island.   http://www.gbairways.com/

8. Corfu Flights.

Re. Item 5.   Air Sea Lines have now included the route Brindisi - Corfu on their daily schedule. http:// www.airsealines.com  It is not yet known when these flights will operate.

7. Corfu Flights.

The German airline LTU. now operates a year round twice weekly (Tuesday and Thursday) service between Corfu and Dusseldorf in Germany - www.ltu.de        Ryanair flights operate between Dusseldorf and the UK.


6. New Taverna in Nissaki.

The new  Parea taverna ( located at site of the old Anthi Taverna) at Nissaki beach is now up and running.   A lot of work has gone into the new decor and garden. We are waiting for reports on the food and service.  If you have eaten there please mail me and let me know what you think.

5. Sea Planes.                                

Air Sea Lines now have a regular service up and running between Paxos and Corfu - Gouvia Marina. The service is due to be extended nearer to the start of the holiday season.   The full schedule is published on their website www.airsealines.com

A courtesy bus operates between Corfu town and Gouvia marina.

Sea Planes.    See item 2.                                                

Air Sea Lines, www.airsealines.com have updated their website.  They now state that their scheduled service in the Ionian area will commence in November 2004, with the availability of on-line ticket booking.  Ticket prices are yet to be published but it is proposed that they will be competitive with ferry tickets.  Proposed flight schedule has now been published.

Easter 2005.                                                                                   18/09/04

Greek Orthodox Easter in 2005 is celebrated  over the weekend Sunday, 1st May, making the island accessible via charter flights.  Easter on Corfu is a must for the visitor who would like to see the unique way the Corfiots celebrate this, their most important religious festival.   If you would like to stay at Aliki's Apartments for Easter - book early.

Air Sea Lines currently operate a charter sea plane service from Corfu and the Ionian sea area.   They intend to start a scheduled service in October 2004 which will apparently link the Ionian Islands and mainland Greece and Italy (Brindisi), www.airsealines.com 

We will update this item as soon as any further information is available.

You may be aware of the low-cost no-frills airline Ryanair (www.Ryanair.com) who fly from the UK. to Italy, serving Brindisi  Bari and Venice.   These ports have ferry services to Corfu.   

Venice - Corfu, 25 hours.  

Bari - Corfu, 8 hours. 

Brindisi - Corfu, 6 hours.
